As part of the 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project, an effort by Caltrain to separate the tracks in San Mateo from the road at 25th, 28th and 31st Avenues, Caltrain closed Hillsdale Station on May 16, 2020 and rebuilt the station four blocks north.
